Captain
David B. Clark has been selected as the new Deputy
General Manager, Ferry and assumed his duties February 22, 2000. Clark replaces
retiring Ferry Division Manager Carl Harrington. Clark brings twenty-five years
of marine operations and fleet management experience with him, along with
extensive experience working with local, regional, state and federal authorities
in planning and implementing new marine transportation ventures.
Over the last four years, Clark has held two key management
positions with Hornblower Marine Services (HMS): General Manager, New London
office; and, most recently Vice President, Ferry Development, San Francisco
office. During his tenure with HMS, he was instrumental in managing several
passenger vessel start-ups, with a concentration on high-speed ferry services,
including the nation’s fastest and longest passenger-only fast ferry service
on Long Island Sound between New York City and New London, CT. Clark also
developed and managed a High Speed Craft Code compliant training program with
the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Bahamas Maritime Authority.
Prior to joining HMS, Clark served as Director of Operations for Pacific
Marine Yachts, San Francisco, CA from 1991 to 1996, where he developed extensive
training programs for both marine and nonmarine crew members. He also managed
USCG compliance, vessel maintenance and repair, dry-docking and emergency
response preparedness. Prior to joining Pacific Marine, he served as Assistant
Operations Manager, Lake Tahoe Cruises, South Tahoe, CA and as Marine
Transportation Manager of Transco Exploration, Houston, TX. Clark is the present
Chairman, Passenger Vessel Association, High Speed Subcommittee. He plans to
reside in Santa Rosa, CA with his family.
