Consistency is what this waterfront restaurant’s
famous for. Locals know they can rely on Executive Chef Fabrice Foinels
and the eager-to-please dining room staff for good food and excellent
service. The kitchen serves up tasty Mediterranean dishes with a
healthy, California flair in a totally mellow setting. The view of
the harbor is downright zen-like, making it the perfect place to escape
on your lunch hour on those days when you’re boss or one of your
annoying coworkers is really working your last nerve. If you’re in the
area after 5 p.m., dinner’s worth mentioning, too. That view gets even
better when the sun goes down. And there’s live entertainment most
nights, as well.

Sardine Can
0 Harbor Way
Vallejo, CA 94590
(707) 553-9492
Finding this quirky dockside eatery can be a bit of a
treasure hunt, but the mixed bag of waterfront types who eat here
regularly will tell you it’s well worth the effort. The joint’s
got a salty nautical vibe and just might be as close a taste as you’ll
get of the area’s old maritime days. Most days, you can still find a
gaggle of scruffy seafarers chowing down on thick, juicy burgers or
Sardine Can’s specialty—fish and chips—all offered at
lunch-counter prices. Seafood, you ask? Of course.
Ladies-who-lunch recommend the fresh crab sandwich and the linguine with
clams. If you’re looking for a fun way to end the
weekend or kick-start your week, swing by on a Sunday evening. There’s
live music from 5 to 9 p.m. And we hear their breakfast rocks,
too! |
