Anyone will tell you the best way to take in the breathtaking beauty of the San Francisco skyline or the Golden Gate Bridge is from the water.  That leaves you with two choices—swim or boat.  Bay Crossings readers suggest the latter.  Hop aboard the Blue & Gold Fleet’s Bay Cruise and get a load of these two Bay Area must-sees and a whole lot more.  Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime resident of the area, the unobstructed views of The City, Sausalito, Angel Island, and Alcatraz, and a trip underneath the Golden Gate Bridge will blow you away.  Plus, you get a little history lesson.  Your captain will share some interesting historica tidbits and trivia to challenge your friends back home with along the way as you cruise aboard the fleet’s safe and comfortable boats.  Cruises leave San Francisco’s Pier 41 five times a day (seven on weekends) and you landlubbers can be back and shopping before you even begin to get your sea legs. Tours are a little less than an hour. Still not convinced?  Well, just think about the pictures you’ll be able to get from aboard ship.  How else are you gonna get those kind of shots?

Often referred to as “What’s that island over there?” by tourists on their way to Alcatraz, Angel Island’s a not-so-well-kept secret among Bay Areans. Every Friday and Saturday evening, the Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry offers those not so familiar with the treasures of the Marin bayfront (and those simply looking to be reminded) a chance to take in sweeping views of Tiburon, Belvedere, Sausalito, San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and, of course, Angel Island.  Family owned and operated, the Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry’s been shuttling locals and out-of-towners back and forth to Angel Island State Park since 1959. But twice a week they invite romantic daytrippers to end their hectic workweek cruising the north side of the bay and watching the sun set behind the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. There’s nothing like it!
