BEST RESTAURANT
Lapis
Pier 33 – The Embarcadero
San Francisco, CA 94111
(415) 982-0203
Locals know waterfront dining usually means annoying
crowds, high prices, and mediocre (at best) food. Not so at Lapis.
Situated inconspicuously at the foot of Broadway, Lapis has been
somewhat of a secret among savvy Bay Areans since opening its doors in
early 2000, and looms head and shoulders above the touristy bayside
restaurants over at Fisherman’s Wharf. The dining room is elegant yet
comfortable and modern but warm, decked out in rich shades of blue and
bronze; and the food is simply exquisite, a sophisticated and
contemporary mix of all things Mediterranean. Sit back, unwind, and
enjoy the exotic tastes of France, Spain, Turkey, and Morocco while you
take in the stunning view of the San Francisco Bay. This is living,
folks!

Vicino
300 Valley St.
Sausalito, CA 94965
(415) 331-1800
This bright, cozy restaurant offers upscale Italian
food at prices that’ll have even budget diners asking to see a dessert
menu. Daytrippers may prefer the more chi-chi waterfront restaurants at
the other end of Sausalito’s main drag, but locals and others
in-the-know appreciate Vicino’s more casual elegance. This is the
place to go for simple but tasty food literally bursting with flavor,
not to mention the view from the dining room is spectacular. Ingredients
are always fresh and each dish lovingly prepared - just like mama used
to make. By the way, we hear the Cappellini alla Checca is to die for. |
