Holidays at the Exploratorium

San Francisco’s Exploratorium is the world’s first and foremost hands-on science museum. Its store staff knows what kids of all ages with active minds would like when it comes to picking hot holiday items for nature lovers, the scientifically inclined, tinkerers, even artists, on anyone’s shopping list. For their top 12 selections… Or, go to their web site to find more cool stuff. All proceeds from the Exploratorium Store support the activities of the Exploratorium (www.exploratorium.edu/store). The Exploratorium is housed in the Palace of Fine Arts.

Folk Play from Around the World at the Holidays
Weekends, Dec. 4 & 5, 11 & 12, 18 & 19
In honor of the world’s cultures and the creative spark inherent in all, the Exploratorium casts its spotlight on folk arts and crafts in December. Objects of beauty and function open a window onto the world’s creative heritage. A variety of artisans from different cultures will lead workshops on everything from Mexican tin art to Filipino lanterns (parols) to Turkish rug making. Participate in making a treat for yourself or someone on your holiday gift list or as a fun family outing during the holidays. Included in the price of admission to the Exploratorium.
