September 12, HEARING VOICES: LISTEN, 1pm at the Exploritorium, next to the Palace of Fine Arts, featuring vocal coach Dave Stroud and singers Terry Ellis (En Vogue), Tony Lindsay (Santana), Christy Macintosh (Beach Blanket Babylon), and young performer Chelsea Dyer. Stroud and company invites the audience to learn about the kinesthetic and physiology of vocalization, and how listening affects how we register and refine our voice. Performers will sing songs that reveal sonorities of the cultivated voice, and Stroud will then provide feedback on voice development.

September 22, AUTUMNAL EQUINOX occurs in military time at 1625 hours, which is based on the time in Greenwich, England. In Chichen Itza in the Yucatan peninsula, the light of the Autumnal Equinox setting sun brings out a series of triangles of light that look like scales of a snake leading to the head of a snake carving at the base of one of the pyramid’s stairways. It is said to represent the feathered snake god coming back to earth to give hope to all people. Enjoy the day.
