Concerts At The
Cove Celebrate Alameda’s West End
The West Alameda Business Association (WABA) will
host its fourth annual Concerts at the Cove - a series of three
concerts - at Alameda’s Crab Cove at Crown Memorial State Beach
starting June 14. The free evening performances will be held on the
second Friday of each month, June through August. The free concerts
begin at 5:30 p.m., and are open to the public.
WABA will kick off this year’s series on June 14, with a
blues/soul-jazz performance by Pamela Rose and her funky, swinging
Hammond B-3 organ band. The jazz group Second Nature, with a
combination of styles, cultures and influences, will take the stage
on July 12. And on August 9, Zydeco Flames heats up the summer
evening with their spirited rhythms and soulful lyrics.
The public can call the WABA event hotline at (888) 291-9222 for
additional information about the concerts.
Families can truly enjoy the Crab Cove shoreline experience by also
visiting the Crab Cove Visitor Center, which is adjacent to the
concert area. The Visitor Center staff is offering organized
activities for families and children on the deck of the center,
which will be open until 7:30 p.m. each night of the concerts. Free
parking is available at Crown Memorial Beach, just a short walk from
Crab Cove.
Concerts at the Cove are sponsored by WABA, Alameda Power &
Telecom, Rosenblum Cellars, Catellus Development Corporation, Trans
Pacific National Bank and Anheusur Busch.
