San Francisco Port Welcomes Monique Moyer as new Port Executive Director

Monique Meyer was confirmed by the Port Commission and officially sworn in by Mayor Gavin Newsom as Executive Director of the Port of San Francisco on Wednesday, May 5, 2004. In her new role, she is responsible for all Port operations and activities placed under the jurisdiction of the Port Commission.

As Executive Director, Ms. Moyer manages five Port divisions including Maritime; Real Estate; Planning & Development; Engineering & Maintenance; and Finance & Administrative Services. In addition, under the Executive Office, the Communications Department, Government Affairs Department, Environmental Health & Safety and the Port’s General Counsel each report directly to Ms. Moyer.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Ms. Moyer join us at the Port,” said Wilfred Hsu, President of the Port Commission. “The depth of her financial and business expertise, along with her demonstrated leadership qualities will be of great value to the Port. We look forward to working with her.”

Prior to joining the Port of San Francisco, Ms. Moyer served as the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Finance & Business Affairs, City & County of San Francisco. She was appointed to manage the department by then-Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. in February 1997 and continues to advise Mayor Gavin Newsom on multiple financial matters affecting the City and County of San Francisco.
Port property includes 7½ miles of San Francisco Bay shoreline stretching from Hyde Street Pier in the north to India Basin in the south. The Port’s mission is to promote maritime commerce, navigation, and fisheries; restoring the environment and providing public recreation.

The San Francisco Port Commission meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise noticed, on the second floor of the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero, near the foot of Market Street.
