Summer Sailstice is pleased to announce its first alliance since its inception with Seacology (www.seacology.org).Seacology is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of island ecosystems and cultures. Summer Sailstice is a new, global holiday celebrating sailing annually on June 21st, the solstice and the longest sailing day of the year. Summer Sailstice, the concept started by John Arndt, a staff member of Latitude 38 magazine, has become international and is now being celebrated by sailors and water lovers all over the planet.

Through the alliance, Seacology will receive $1 for every sailor registered for Summer Sailstice, and is supported by donations from West Marine, private individuals, and Summer Sailstice and Seacology board members. "Summer Sailstice was created to give the sailors a simple, fun way to get together and celebrate sailing, one of the world’s most pleasurable pastimes," said John Arndt. "Concurrently, we intended for Summer Sailstice to make a positive contribution to the environment all sailors use and enjoy. Since islands are often the image that beckon so many sailors, the importance of maintaining the health of these island ecosystems and cultures felt like a cause all sailors could embrace."
