A Peanut Butter & Jam Festival hosted by the West Alameda Business Association (WABA) is scheduled for Saturday, September 7th, on Webster Street in Alameda. The festival will take place between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. on a closed, four-block strip of Webster Street between Central Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.

The festival is held in honor of Skippy peanut butter, which was first used as a trademark for peanut butter in 1932. Produced by Rosefield Packing Co., Ltd., Skippy was originally produced on Webster Street near Atlantic Avenue in Alameda.

Wine and food will be available for purchase. Featured wineries include Alameda’s own Rosenblum Cellars, Dashe Cellars, RustRidge Winery, Sunset Cellars, Zoom, Saddleback Cellars, Thomas Coyne Winery and Fenestra Winery. Participating food vendors include local favorites such as Aroma, Chevy’s, Togo’s, Crolls, Sahib Indian Cuisine, Bladium, and Bonzai Garlic Bistro, and for a taste of the Southwest, North Main Texas BBQ has been brought in all the way from Euless, Texas. To commemorate the festival’s namesake, peanut butter and jam sandwiches will be available at the festival and vendors will use peanut butter in some of the dishes offered.

Antique dealers will showcase their goods, and local merchants will offer various specials. Live music will take place throughout the day, featuring music of several different genres and providing entertainment for all ages. The lineup includes: a soulful top-40s performance by Alvon & the All Stars, the spicy Latin and Jazz of Amigos, and more. In addition, there will be a special children’s activity area.

The public can call the WABA event hotline at (888) 291-9222 for additional information about the festival.
