The Port of San Francisco today announced that Kenneth E. Winters has been named as the Port’s new Director of Real Estate, effective immediately. Winters is responsible for directing, promoting, and managing the Port’s real estate portfolio along the 7.5 miles of San Francisco’s waterfront that extends from Fisherman’s Wharf to Bayview/Hunter’s Point.

With more than 20 years experience in financial investment, real estate portfolio management, and strategic planning throughout the United States and international markets, Winters brings a diverse knowledge of business management practices, strategies, and transaction experience. His vision will enhance Port revenues, strengthen client relationships, and improve overall operating efficiencies.

“We are extremely fortunate that Ken has joined our Port family,” said Doug Wong, Port Executive Director. “The depth of his corporate managerial skills and his demonstrated leadership are essential to the Port in forging stronger partnerships with our 600-plus tenants, and in creating greater interest in waterfront development opportunities within the international business community.”

As a principal of AEW Capital Management, a private institutional investment firm in Boston, Winters managed a $2.5 billion real estate portfolio with an operating budget of over $400 million and was responsible for negotiating and completing more than $800 million of real estate investment transactions.

“In addition to his proven skills in asset management and real estate transactions, Ken is a seasoned leader that will add strength and a new dimension to our team,” said Wong. “He is comfortable managing large teams, is adept at consensus building, and has demonstrated vision and success in his past business endeavors.”

Winters holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master’s degree in Finance from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
