Ferry Building Farmers’ Market Taps New Chief

Lisa Capozzi has joined CUESA, the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture, as the new Executive Director. Capozzi comes to CUESA with a 15-year background as a food service executive, manager, business owner, and trained chef. She is on the board of directors of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs and the California Culinary Academy Education Foundation. She also served on the Board of Executive Women International.
Capozzi is "thrilled to be a part of CUESA, an organization dedicated to changing our relationship to the foods that we eat and the farmers and growers that provide it." Beverly Mills, CUESA board president is "pleased to have Lisa onboard as she brings a great mix of culinary and business talents combined with a focus on sustainable agriculture that will help propel CUESA to new heights."
CUESA’s goals are to support regional growers, especially small sustainable family farms; connect urban residents to these farmers; and educate consumers about sustainable practices. CUESA is the proud sponsor of the Ferry Plaza Farmers’ Market. The markets, which happen four days a week at the San Francisco Ferry Building, play a key role in the movement to protect our region’s endangered agricultural resources. CUESA’s market education programs focus on public interest issues such as the need for sustainable agriculture, the risks and benefits of new technologies, the urban-rural competition for water, and how organic and sustainable farming protect air, water, and soil quality.
