Old Oakland Outdoor Cinema returns for a 2nd season with a screening of the 1961 Academy Award winning film, "West Side Story." Rita Moreno, who received a "Best Supporting Actress" Oscar for her performance as Anita, will introduce the ever-popular classic at 8pm. Outdoor cinema is a free event happening through October. Speaking of free, Frank Lee Morris and the Anglin Brothers are notorious for having successfully escaped from Alcatraz high-security prison (as far as anyone knows), on the night of June 12, 1962. Every year, thousands of swimmers brave the chilly currents of the San Francisco Bay to perform somewhat of a reenactment in an "Escape from Alcatraz" swim and an "Escape from The Rock" triathlon. The first is a1.5-mile daytime swim from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park. The second is the "Escape from The Rock Triathlon - The Ultimate Escape," happening on August 14.
