This issue begins a new series of stories from San Francisco-based travel website WeekendSherpa.com. This month, the feature profiles Half-Tank Getaways, or outdoor adventures that are less than 130 miles round trip from San Francisco. Our cover photo, taken by Brad Day of WeekendSherpa.com, is of Dillon Beach, a hidden treasure north of Point Reyes. As WeekendSherpa.com explains, with one café, a surf shop, and—well, that’s about it—you’re left with little to do there but relax. Cell phones don’t work, wireless is nonexistent, and many of the houses don’t get TV reception. The mile-long stretch of beach is made for long walks, beautiful views, and play time for dogs.
