This spectacularly close flyover by a United Airlines 747 near the Golden Gate Bridge during last month’s Fleet Week made national news. Some people questioned the wisdom of the stunt, saying that it evoked memories of September 11, 2001. Most spectators, including our publisher, however, seemed to understand that the spectacle was part of the air show. It should be noted that from this angle, the airplane seems much closer to the bridge than it actually was. Photo by Joel Williams.
