Ross Mirkarimi, who favors investigating the use of barges to move trash out of the City (see page 9), was re-elected fifth district Supervisor in 2008. He was also appointed by the State Senate to the California Coastal Commission in 2009. He has been a longtime champion of environmental protection, consumer rights and public safety.
