Three appointments have been made to the San Francisco Bay Area Water Transit Authority Board.
They are:
-- Marina Secchitano, Regional Director of Inland Boatmen's Union of the Pacific (IBU). The IBU represents most of the crewpeople working San Francisco Bay ferryboats. Ms. Secchitano is also a founding member of the Friends of a Regional Ferry System Board of Directors.
-- Joe Freitas, former District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco.
-- Albert Boro, Mayor of the City of San Rafael
Secchitano and Freitas were appointed by Senator John Burton of San Francisco. Senate Bill 428, which created the Authority, allows the President of the Senate (currently Senator Burton) to make two appointments to the Board.
Mayor Boro was appointed by the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District. SB 428 also reserves a seat on the Authority Board for the GGBHD.

SB 428 calls for Governor Gray Davis to make four appointments, including the President and Vice President, of the Board. The Speaker of the Assembly gets two appointments as well. There is no indication from either the Governor or the Speaker when they will make their choices known.
