Captain David B. Clark has been selected as the new Deputy General Manager, Ferry and assumed his duties February 22, 2000. Clark replaces retiring Ferry Division Manager Carl Harrington. Clark brings twenty-five years of marine operations and fleet management experience with him, along with extensive experience working with local, regional, state and federal authorities in planning and implementing new marine transportation ventures.
Over the last four years, Clark has held two key management positions with Hornblower Marine Services (HMS): General Manager, New London office; and, most recently Vice President, Ferry Development, San Francisco office. During his tenure with HMS, he was instrumental in managing several passenger vessel start-ups, with a concentration on high-speed ferry services, including the nation’s fastest and longest passenger-only fast ferry service on Long Island Sound between New York City and New London, CT. Clark also developed and managed a High Speed Craft Code compliant training program with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Bahamas Maritime Authority.
Prior to joining HMS, Clark served as Director of Operations for Pacific Marine Yachts, San Francisco, CA from 1991 to 1996, where he developed extensive training programs for both marine and nonmarine crew members. He also managed USCG compliance, vessel maintenance and repair, dry-docking and emergency response preparedness. Prior to joining Pacific Marine, he served as Assistant Operations Manager, Lake Tahoe Cruises, South Tahoe, CA and as Marine Transportation Manager of Transco Exploration, Houston, TX. Clark is the present Chairman, Passenger Vessel Association, High Speed Subcommittee. He plans to reside in Santa Rosa, CA with his family.
