Wednesday This two-hour skippered charter is a great way to break up a long week. We’ll be sailing from 6 to 8 pm and follow that with a chili and chowder social from 8-10 pm. Don’t miss this great opportunity for a mid-week break! Cost is $40.

Navigating your kayak by moonlight is a mystical experience you won’t soon forget. This unique kayak tour allows for a grand view of the moon rising into the night’s sky.  We will paddle leisurely while admiring the moon’s silvery light reflecting off the water’s surface. It can be difficult to choose which fireworks show to attend on the 4th of July. Pier 39, Sausalito, or Berkeley? We’ve got the best seat in the house…the middle of the Bay on the Schooner Seaward!  The view from the water gives you the best chance to take in the Fireworks from all around the Bay Area. Cost is $95 for non-members and $71.25 for members. *We suggest arriving before 4:00pm and expect to leave after 11:00pm. The Berkeley Marina closes down from 4pm-11pm. Any arrivals after 4:00pm will have to walk through the Marina to get to OCSC.

Everyone has seen Stand Up Paddlers, seemingly walking on water! Check out this wonderful new sport! Give Stand Up Paddling a try in our introductory SUP class. SUP has become incredibly popular in a few short years because it’s so fun, easy, and another GREAT way to get on the water. (It’s good for you, too.) This 3-hour session in the sheltered water of the Oakland Estuary (launching from our dock at Jack London Square) will get you started, and you’ll be cruising in style in no time. Cost is $60.

Other maritime education companies offer you a Captain’s License course that only qualifies you for a OUPV/6-PACK license, which is limited to operating uninspected vessels only, carrying six or less paying passengers. Our 2 week U.S. Coast Guard approved Captain’s course meets the written examination requirement for not only the OUPV/6-PACK License; but also includes licenses for Master or Mate Near Coastal not more than 100 tons; Master or Mate Inland not more than 100 tons; Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels up to 100 tons.

This four hour USCG Approved course meets the written examination requirement to receive an Assistance Towing endorsement on your OUPV 6-Pack or Master’s License. This endorsement is required if you will be engaged in towing a disabled vessel for payment. This endorsement authorizes the holder to engage in commercial assistance towing within the scope of their license. Course subjects include Rules of the Road; Towing terms and definitions; Towing equipment; Towing Hazards and Towing Setup.

Come experience on of the premier paddling destinations in California on this guided kayak tour! Voyage Seaward is a summer experience like no other. During this hands-on program, students are completely immersed in the world of a ship as they board the 82’ schooner Seaward and become part of the crew. They learn sailing, marine science, navigation, maritime history, nautical arts, and much more through direct experience and the instruction of our friendly professional crew. They’ll gain new friendships, teamwork and leadership skills, and self-confidence through this adventure on San Francisco Bay. Cost is $700 and includes all meals.

Climb aboard the classic schooner Seaward and see San Francisco from the water! Help the crew raise the sails and steer the boat, or just sit back and enjoy the view! Morning winds are typically light so we often get to sail under the Golden Gate Bridge. This sail will include optional learning stations in San Francisco Bay ecology and seamanship. It’s a great sail for families, though all are welcome! Light snacks and beverages served. Cost is $45 for adults, $25 for youth 6-12, and children under 6 are free. Come explore the wetlands along Corte Madera Marsh while taking in the views of Mount Tampalpais and the San Francisco Bay. We will paddle out in stable double sea kayaks while keeping our eyes open for the curious harbor seals that gather nearby. If conditions permit, we may take an optional side trip past the infamous San Quentin Prison, then stop for lunch on a nice sandy beach with incredible views. Cost is $70.

Sunset kayaking is an enchanting experience. The water often turns glassy and calm on the Oakland Estuary late in the day, and twilight adds to the unique ambiance. We’ll enjoy a leisurely paddling pace as the sun goes down, setting the stage for a beautiful evening on the water. Weather depending, we’ll paddle towards the mouth of the Oakland Estuary, or towards Alameda Island, taking in the quaint sights of this nautical community. Cost is $49
