Spring is in the air at Jack London Square—the perfect outdoor destination for locals and visitors to emerge from winter hibernation. From boating on the waterfront to outdoor bazaars, Jack London Square will pack April and May with something for everyone: families, foodies, outdoor enthusiasts and more.
April kicks off with the 2013 Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show, sailing into the square Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April, 14 with everything that is hot in the world of sailing. Perfect for serious sailors as well as newbies, the boat show is a place where everyone can immerse themselves in the world of sailing and check out hundreds of the latest sailboats, enjoy free sailboat rides on the water and learn about the 34th America’s Cup at the America’s Cup Pavilion.
Jack’s Night Market returns to Jack London Square on Friday, May 3, from 6 to 10 p.m., and will take place on the first Friday of each month through September. Locals and visitors will delight in a captivating evening on the waterfront filled with merriment and verve. Jack’s Night Market will take place on the same nights as Oakland’s First Fridays, lighting up the square with an eclectic mix of artisans, music, food and fun. From the finest crafts and designers to local fruit purveyors and street performers, this vibrant outdoor bazaar will celebrate all that is Oakland-made. Night marketgoers will also enjoy a selection of tasty treats, street food, beer and wine. All beer and wine sales from Jack’s Night Market benefit the Sustainable Business Alliance and Oakland Grown. In addition to all the entertainment, visitors can dine at a variety of contemporary restaurants including Bocanova, Forge, Haven, Lungomare and more.
For both the Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show and Jack’s Night Market, visitors can bike, ferry or drive to the square, as well as hop on the "FREE B" Broadway Shuttle for fast, free connections to/from Jack London Square.
