Summer is in full swing on the Oakland waterfront and Jack London Square’s August calendar is packed with exciting outdoor activities. Everyone is invited to enjoy the eclectic mix of free events including Sing-Along Cinema, Dancing Under the Stars, Waterfront Flicks, Jack’s Night Market and more!

August kicks off the return of Sing-Along Cinema, a lively evening of song and dance on the waterfront with free screenings of popular musicals. Both families and film fanatics will enjoy The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday, August 13, at sundown, along with a theatrical troupe as they sing and dance along with the movie. Moviegoers are encouraged to show up in costume dressed as their favorite character and sing along to their favorite songs. Pre-event festivities include costume contests, games, prizes and more!

Jack London Square concludes its popular summer film series Waterfront Flicks this month with Man of Steel on Thursday, August 7 and The Lego Movie on Thursday, August 21. Arrive early for dinner at one of Jack London Square’s tasty restaurants and then grab a spot on the Ferry Lawn for trivia and giveaways before the screening.

The waterfront lights up on Friday, August 1, with an evening of merriment and verve at Jack’s Night Market. Stilt walkers, fortune tellers and an eclectic mix of quirky street performers will fill the festive market, along with local artisans, interactive entertainment, tasty eats, drinks and more.

Jack of All Trades returns on August 9 with more than 100 local vendors and makers selling hand-crafted items, designs, art, specialty food products, antiques, memorabilia and more. Free to the public, Jack of All Trades takes place on the second Saturday of each month.

Dancing Under the Stars, the Bay Area’s favorite summer dance series, continues on Friday nights through August 29. Dancers of all experience levels are invited to kick up their heels for an evening of free dance lessons while grooving to different themes each week including the electric slide, Argentine tango, nightclub two-step, hustle and salsa. These festive, free dance lessons begin at 8:30 p.m., followed by a dance party at 9 p.m. to try out all the new moves.

In addition to all the special events, visitors can dine at a variety of contemporary restaurants including Bocanova, Forge Pizza, Haven, Lungomare and more, as well as the newly opened Rosenblum Cellars. Visitors can easily bike, ferry, BART or drive to Jack London Square. For additional information, visit www.jacklondonsquare.com.
