Aquarium of the Bay and the Bay Institute will hold the San Francisco Bay Gala, their largest fundraising event, on October 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The San Francisco Bay Gala will be a fun-filled night featuring delightful entertainment, delicious bites and delectable cocktails. Held amongst sharks, otters, jellies and 20,000 other marine animals at Aquarium of the Bay, this premiere event is an opportunity to mix and mingle with prominent guests beneath the Bay in the Aquarium’s iconic underwater tunnels. Their prime waterfront location offers stunning views of the San Francisco Bay and will inspire you to love where you live.
This exciting event is the largest fundraiser for Aquarium of the Bay and the Bay Institute, with proceeds providing critical support for our education, animal care and conservation programs. There are multiple ways that guests can help fulfill the mission to protect, restore, and inspire conservation of San Francisco Bay and its watershed:
• Make a tax-deductible donation to Fund-A-Need. Your gift helps care for and protect the animals (at the Aquarium and in the wild), clean up and conserve Bay habitat and coastlines, and educate 20,000 local children.
• Try your luck at winning one of three great raffle prizes: A trip to Honolulu, a private Otter-tini party at Aquarium of the Bay or a private sailboat party out on San Francisco Bay.
• Bid generously on a silent auction item (or two) for a chance to walk away with amazing trips and unique opportunities. Among the exciting items featured in the auction: an up-close look at the magic of Hollywood at Universal Studios with thrilling theme park rides and shows and a real working movie studio tour; a baseball and cap autographed by Giants pitching star and two-time World Series champion Matt Cain; and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive in the Aquarium’s 700,000-gallon tanks with legendary ocean explorer and marine conservation researcher Dr. Sylvia Earle.
The event will also feature a strolling buffet with a mouthwatering selection from some of San Francisco’s finest Bay Area Sustainable Seafood Watch Alliance restaurants including Hog Island Oyster Co., Farallon, Waterbar, Fog Harbor Fish House, Pier Market, Wipeout Bar & Grill, Twenty Five Lusk, Bistro Boudin and La Mar Cebicheria Peruana, with seafood provided by Royal Hawaiian.
Event tickets are $250 and are available until Sunday, October 5 at sfbaygala.org.
