Sunday, April 26 is Opening Day on the Bay. It’s a grand nautical celebration, part of which can be enjoyed from the shoreline as well. Two events will happen that day. The first is the Blessing of the Fleet, during which religious officials and others bestow their blessings on the sailing season. The second is the annual Opening Day on the Bay Decorated Boat Parade that draws thousands of viewers along San Francisco’s northern shoreline. The theme this year is “Youth in Boating.” Photo of last year’s event by Mia Bernt S/C PICYA.
