Golden
Gate Larkspur
Ferry Parking Lot Construction
On Monday, October 8,
construction began at the Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry Terminal parking
lot, adding 210 parking spaces to the existing 1,316 spaces. The parking
lot will remain open to the public during construction. However, about
250 parking spaces will be closed during the four-phase construction
process, which will last 3 months. Options available to customers during
construction:
» Bus-to-Ferry Shuttles
On weekdays, FREE Golden Gate Transit buses shuttle customers from most
Marin neighborhoods to/from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal. Route 25 and
Route 29 buses serving the Park and Ride Lot on Anderson Dr. provide
free shuttle service to/from the Terminal. Customers who ride the FREE
shuttle buses for 6:05 am to 8:35 am ferry departures receive guaranteed
boarding.
» Satellite Parking at
Ross Valley Sanitary District Located Across the Street from Larkspur
Ferry Terminal (about a 10 minute walk to the terminal). This lot is for
weekday use only, from 7 am to 10:30 pm. There is no parking after 10:30
pm. The lot is closed and locked on weekends.
» Bicycles a) During
construction, restrictions on the number of bikes allowed on the ferries
will be rescinded. During this time, as many bicycles as possible will
be allowed, within safe limits. b) The Larkspur Ferry Terminal has both
open and protected bicycle parking. c) Bus-to- ferry shuttle buses offer
exterior bike racks carrying up to two bicycles.
» Carpools Larkspur Ferry
Terminal has 18 carpool spaces. A carpool requires at least two
occupants to qualify to use these spaces. David Clark, Deputy General
Manager, Ferry Division, explains "We apologize for the temporary
inconvenience to our customers caused by the construction. The
improvements to the parking lot are part of a significant overall plan
to better serve Larkspur Ferry customers by increasing parking
capacity."
In addition to increasing
parking spaces, the plan includes promoting the use of the free
bus-to-ferry shuttles, encouraging carpools, and promoting
bike-to-transit options.
