Reader of the
Month
Hon. Willie L. Brown, Jr.
PROFESSION: Mayor,
City and County
of San Francisco
FERRY COMMUTER:
No, but I was an early and important backer of the Water Transit
Authority.
PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED
IF THEY KNEW: I would be surprised
if there’s anything left to be surprised about after forty years of
investigations.
IF I HAD A FREE DAY, I’D
SPEND IT: The entire day at the
movies.
MY PROUDEST MOMENT WAS:
I’ve had so many high points, I can’t pick just one. Graduating from
college, then law school; elected to the Legislature, getting on the
Ways and Means Committee, becoming Speaker, becoming Mayor. And I’ve
got four healthy children.
HOW I WOULD LIKE TO BE
REMEMBERED: That I served with
unlimited energy and commitment, in whatever capacity I occupied. And
that I was always fun.
PET PEEVE: Absence
of commitment.
HOBBIES: Attending
cultural performances.
FAVORITE BOOK: Anything
by Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum, and biographies and autobiographies.
FAVORITE FILM: Gone
with the Wind
IF I COULD CHANGE ONE
THING ABOUT MYSELF, IT WOULD BE: I’d
be faster than Michael Jordan, deadlier on the golf course than Tiger
Woods and a better home run hitter than Barry Bonds.
IF I COULD INVITE FOUR
PEOPLE TO DINNER - LIVING OR DEAD – THEY WOULD BE:
Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, Eleanor Roosevelt and Walter
Cronkite.
IF I COULD PLAY A SONG
FROM THE TOP OF THE FERRY BUILDING:
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
