On September 17, 2004, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District awarded a contract for ferry terminal security enhancements budgeted at nearly $900,000, with $520,000 coming from a federal Port Security Grant awarded by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the remaining coming from a combination of District and Federal Transportation Administration funds.
